Main Responsibilities:

  • Adopt a business partnering approach, provide HR strategic, advisory and operational support to managers and employees across the employment life cycle.
  • Coach and support managers in developing their leadership and management capabilities, including the development and delivery of people-management training.
  • Manage the contracting process, including employment agreements, individual flexibility agreements, employment variations, employee leave, remuneration and other related employment terms and conditions.
  • Support and guide managers to undertake consistent and appropriate performance & development review processes to promote a high-performance culture.
  • Support and guide managers to undertake consistent and appropriate Performance Management processes to manage employee under performance.
  • Manage the offboarding process, including exit survey and exit interview data analysis, identifying continuous improvement opportunities and developing retention strategies to reduce workforce turnover.
  • Work closely with national and state-based P&C teams to ensure standardization and best practice.
  • Drive employee compliance with HRIS systems.
  • Provide support to State Manager through EBA negotiations process.
  • Drive best practice recruitment and selection process including workforce planning, job design attraction strategies, participating in interview processes where required, with an overall focus on candidate experience.
  • Continually review casualised workforce to align with legislation and to convert where applicable.
  • Provide relevant HR data and analytics to State Manager and management to support and inform decision making.
  • Support management and employees in the interpretation and adherence to applicable industrial instruments, policies, procedures, processes, legislation, and best practice.
  • Stay abreast of any changing or new legislation and communicate /implement as necessary.
  • Coach/Oversee/Conduct Workplace Investigations where necessary.
  • Assist in developing and implementing timely return to work arrangements and plans.
  • Where applicable play the lead role in any disciplinary actions that may arise from an injury, incident, or WC claim.
  • Work collaboratively with WH&S Business Partner & State Financial Controller to achieve best practice through the WC claim process. Provide ongoing support as necessary to injured employees.

  • Effective communication skills among diverse audiences.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Project and People Management Skills.
  • Can make sense of data and use it to support decision making.
  • Comfortable working with business leaders and managers to address any workforce challenges or issues.
  • Ability to facilitate discussions around change and transformation.

Qualifications:

  • Degree level qualification in Business Management & Human Resources.
  • AHRI certified - desired.
  • Mental Health training and qualification - desired.
