The opportunity:

The Retail line of business is currently seeking an Operations Manager to manage the Burwood Brickworks Retail Centre. The centre is a state-of-the-art super neighbourhood centre with sustainability initiatives including 1 MW of roof solar and a living, breathing urban farm.

Reporting to the National Operations Manager (line) and the Centre Manager (day to day), the Operations Manager will be responsible for working as part of the Centre Management Team and managing all aspects of building services, statutory compliance, maintenance, sustainability, risk management, contractor management and Tenancy Delivery.

A key objective of this role will be the delivery of exceptional customer service and a focus on maximising the operational performance of the asset.

As the successful applicant, this role will see your responsibilities include:

  • Implementing best practice operating standards for the asset
  • Providing Retail Tenancy Delivery on Cat 1 obligations and onsite works
  • Managing procurement and supplier performance against contract
  • Undertaking regular inspections of the asset, plant and equipment for risk, safety and defects
  • Maintaining the asset management and IT platforms
  • Developing and monitoring Centre OPEX and CAPEX budgets and forecasting in conjunction with the Finance Manager and Asset Management Team
  • Seeking to maximise value on works completed
  • Managing contractors and onsite safety
  • Monitoring energy, water and gas performance
  • Collaborating with the Sustainability Team, assisting with data collection and upgrade recommendations
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholder groups, including supporting the Retail Tenants

You may have all or some of the following skills and experience:

  • Prior experience preferably in managing operations and facilities of Retail assets
  • Tenancy Delivery experience in a Retail asset
  • A relevant technical qualification – either an engineering degree, trade qualification or equivalent
  • Demonstrated commercial acumen around budgets, operational plans, contracts and commercial agreements
  • Understanding of emerging technology in Retail facilities
  • Proficient negotiation and conflict resolution skills, with demonstrable experience in problem solving
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships
