About the Opportunity:


Due to an internal promotion, we have an opportunity for an experienced quantitative Trading Risk Specialist to join the team at CleanCo in our Brisbane office.


Reporting to the Trading Risk & Valuation Manager, the Trading Risk Specialist primary accountabilities will be in the design, development and ongoing review of financial instrument valuations and market risk models.

The financial instruments cover electricity futures/options, OTC derivatives, power purchase agreements etc.

CleanCo uses simulation-based market risk models to measure Gross Margin at Risk, Cashflow at Risk and Counterparty Credit Risk relating to our renewable energy portfolio and financial transactions.


The Trading Risk Specialist will identify, analyse, and report on the risks arising from CleanCo's generation assets, power purchase agreements (PPAs) and trading transactions of electricity, environmental products, gas and ensure all transactions are executed in accordance with the company's risk and compliance frameworks and trading strategy.


This key role in our Trading, Risk and Valuations team will recommend and maintain a control framework relating to commodity exposures.

In addition, you will participate and support in the development and implementation of the Trading Risk & Valuation function models, reports, systems, and processes.


About you:

  • Experience performing advanced quantitative analysis and developing or validating market risk models to support the running of quantitative strategies.
  • Advanced knowledge in one or more programming languages.
  • Proven experience working with a quantitative risk management system within energy or financial markets.
  • National Energy Market experience preferred but not essential. Training will be provided to successful applicant.
  • Experience leading complex project execution
  • Capable of producing and presenting senior executive and Board level reporting.
  • The ability to build strong relationships and enable the trading business while maintaining independence with respect to standards of risk and compliance
