About the role:


The JBS Australia WHS graduate position is an 18-month program consisting of 3 rotations aimed at developing both technical WHS skills and understanding, as well as leadership capability to enable progression to more senior roles.


To support our WHS graduate in achieving this we have structured the program to include site-specific, corporate and industry-based training in a way that allows you to have the freedom to explore all aspects of the WHS roles within the organisation.

Whilst giving you the support, mentoring, training and tools you need to develop into a high performing WHS professional.

The WHS Graduate program will expose you to the role of the WHS professional in different parts of the JBS Northern Business Unit (BU) through specific rotations:

  • Rotation
  • Meat Processing & Cold Stores
  • Rotation
- Feedlots & JBS Carriers

  • Rotation
- Corporate WHS function & Workers Compensation

Responsibilities include (but not limited to):

  • Assist in the improvement and integration of the JBS Safety Management System across the Northern (BU) including policies, procedures, practices and electronic platforms.
  • Assist in the delivery of the Northern BU Risk strategy
  • Identify and deliver a safety improvement project in each rotation of the program.
  • Participate in or lead incident investigations as directed.
  • Participate in safety activities within the JBS Northern BU including plant and process risk assessments, hazard identification and review, workplace inspections and audits, etc.
  • Develop and deliver topic specific safety training and toolbox talks as required
  • Assist with the planning and delivery of Health, Wellbeing and programs across the Northern BU
  • Assist site Return to Work teams in the proactive management of injured workers.

About you:

  • Final year or recent graduate in WHS degree or post grad qualification
  • Be resultsdriven, motivated and committed to wanting to improve workplace safety.
  • Be open and willing to learn and display leadership potential.
  • Be willing to partner with site teams to enable them to deliver on their site risk strategies
  • Provide innovative thinking in evaluating operational needs to deliver 'fit for purpose' safety improvement solutions.
  • Have strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to prioritise and multiskill
  • Must be energetic, passionate and enthusiastic with a demonstrated focus on safe plant, process and people improvement
