About the role
This position will be responsible for providing a 7-day/week support service for multi-disciplinary staff and patient care including cleaning, removal of waste, assisting with the care of and transportation of patients, equipment, linen and materials around the hospital.
This position will also be required to work with and provide support and advice to all staff and Operational Services Supervisor.
About you
- Demonstrated ability or ability to acquire skills to provide effective cleaning services/patient handling in a hospital or commercial environment.
- Infection control.
- Use and storage of waste, chemical and hazardous substances.
- Patient Handling
- Ability to communicate effectively, displaying sensitivity and understanding, diplomacy and discretion in dealing with clients, the public and other staff members.
- Well-developed ability to build and maintain appropriate relationships with team members and clients.
- Ability to understand instructions and carry out tasks within pre-determined timeframes.
- Basic understanding of, or ability to acquire knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety, Equal Employment Opportunity and Anti-discrimination practices and behaviours as applied in the working environment.
**Mandatory Requirements**:
- Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
