Reporting to the Head of Sustainable Aviation Fuel, the Manager of Sustainable Aviation Fuel will assist in the implementation of the Group's SAF policy and targets, and develop and maintain the tracking, reporting and monitoring of these targets in the context of the Group's de-carbonisation commitments.

This role will primarily be responsible for assisting in the development of the Group's government advocacy and policy development, managing (together with the Fuel Procurement team) the approval and execution process of SAF offtake agreements; as part of the Airbus Australian SAF Partnership, conducting SAF feasibility studies, risk assessments where required, the building of investment cases for approval (including driving the financial analysis) and assisting in overall transaction management in relation to SAF industry investments.


This role will also assist in the development of Qantas's SAF Coalition program and monitor external regulatory changes, stakeholder engagement and participate in SAF related industry forums.

Further, this role will perform ongoing review and prepare content for the internal and external communication of the Group's integrated SAF policy.


You'll have:

  • Experience working in Energy, Fuels, Renewables sector or a legal, accounting or environmental consultancy preferably within a sustainability or energy transition field
  • Demonstrated experience in biofuels or biomass as a feedstock is beneficial
  • Demonstrated capability to manage stakeholders and influence outcomes across a large and complex organisation
  • Sustainability, biofuels and climate policy technical skills and working knowledge of government and industry sustainability, biofuels policies and legislation is beneficial
  • Strong communication skills with experience in managing the development and implementation of strategy, policy, systems and procedures
  • Proven project management, transactional execution skills and experience at a manager level
  • Demonstrated experience participating in a cross functional team
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills and the ability to develop effective tracking and monitoring systems
  • Proven influencing and relationship management skills across multiple internal stakeholder groups
  • Ability to support the development and delivery of business cases / financial analysis to senior management
  • Motivation to be a selfstarter with initiative; the ability to work independently and a good team player
