Forensicare is a statutory agency mandated to provide a range of specialist mental health and associated services to mentally ill offenders.


There are three major service areas:

Thomas Embling Hospital for compulsory inpatient treatment; Community Forensic Mental Health Services provides a range of specialist services and assessments for those in the community or under the care of area mental health services; and Forensicare also operates as the primary psychiatric assessment and treatment provider for Victoria's prisons.


The Director of Clinical Services (DCS) will provide clinical leadership and contribute forensic mental health advice to multidisciplinary teams to ensure the delivery of safe and high quality inpatient services across the community directorate.

The DCS is directly responsible for managing the medical workforce to achieve the best patient treatment and outcomes consistent with the legislated process and to establish ways to ensure the ongoing improvement, growth and development of Forensicare.

The DCS reports to the Executive Director - Forensic Mental Health and will be expected to work closely with the Operations managers and Executive Director, as well as a team of other DCSs.

Forensicare is on the brink of significant funded expansion of the community directorate in regional areas.

We are seeking a dynamic, proactive Consultant Psychiatrist with demonstrated Clinical Leadership who can inspire and engage our growing medical workforce.

  • Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) or equivalent

COVID19 & Influenza Vaccination Evidence


Under the Victorian Public Health orders, all employees working within the Public Health system must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and Influenza and are required to provide acceptable evidence of their vaccination status.

The current orders require evidence of three doses for COVID-19.
