About - Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology
The Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology (FEIT) has been the leading Australian provider of engineering and IT education and research for over 150 years.
We are a multidisciplinary School organised into three key areas; Computing and Information Systems (CIS), Chemical and Biomedical Engineering (CBE) and Electrical, Mechanical and Infrastructure Engineering (EMI).
FEIT continues to attract top staff and students with a global reputation and has a commitment to knowledge for the betterment of society.
About the Role
The CADRE-OCE is a collaborative initiative with four Founding University Partners comprising the University of Melbourne, University of Adelaide, Queensland University of Technology, and the University of New South Wales.
The CADRE-OCE is a nationally integrated and coordinated effort, designed to align with and augment current OCE STaR Shot capabilities and capacity.
The Centre will establish the ecosystem needed to support the Australian Government's broader objectives by building enduring sovereign capability and innovative technologies to address chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear threats that may affect the security of the nation.
The Industry Engagement Manager plays an important role within CADRE-OCE in working collaborative with the Founding University Partners, and stakeholders from Defence, industry, academia and government to meet the objectives of the Centre.
You will be a strategic thinker with the ability to work with a diverse range of stakeholders to identify and develop opportunities that will lead to the development of innovative technologies.
The position exercises a high degree of delegated responsibility and autonomy.Considerable initiative, excellent written and oral communication skills, strategic planning ability and the ability to engender trust amongst stakeholders from Defence, industry academia and government are all essential attributes.
The position will also play a key role in ensuring the Centre meets its reporting obligations against key performance indicators.
The role works closely with the FEIT Defence and National Security sector-facing platform, and staff from across the Faculty and the University.
The Industry Engagement Manager will report to the Centre Director.Responsibilities include:
- Shape the CADRE-OCE strategy through consultations with stakeholders from Defence, industry, academia and government that will meet the objectives of the Centre;
- Work collaboratively and engender trust amongst internal and external stakeholders from Defence, industry, academia and government to develop and deliver activities that will meet the objectives of the Centre
- Proactively seek out opportunities to strengthen industry links and foster sustainable partnerships that will attract funding from national and international funding schemes. Industry links should include multinational companies, smallmedium sized enterprises (SMEs) and startups
- Develop programs and processes that will support the Centre in meeting its Key Performance Indicators
About You
To be successful in this role you will demonstrate experience working with technology-focussed researchers to foster the translation of research with industry partners with the ability to identify and develop opportunities with stakeholders from industry, academic and research sectors resulting in successful funding outcomes.
You will also have:
- A postgraduate degree, or equivalent qualifications in engineering, information technology and/or business
- Proven ability to build trust and work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders in a complex and ambiguous environment where priorities and deadlines can change
- Have the flexibility to work independently and within a team to implement strategy that aligns with an organisation's objectives
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to develop and deliver presentations, write reports, and develop communication material;
