Role Description/Criteria

St Joseph's operates across multiple campuses, located in North Melbourne, Geelong, Colac, Ballarat, and a dual engagement virtual learning campus, BlendED. Such interventions are embedded within the Operation By Principles framework, which combine education with an understanding of trauma-informed practice.

The Finance Manager is responsible for the day-to-day financial operations of the school and is required to take initiative and exercise judgment in determining appropriate decisions to manage the incumbent's specific areas of responsibility. The role provides support to the Director of Business Operations, Executive Principal, Directors, Campus Principals and staff at each school.

The Finance Manager will be responsible for the supervision and leadership of the Finance team delivering accurate and timely reporting. The Finance Manager will actively seek continuous improvement in all aspects of the financial functions of the school.

The Role:

  • We are looking for a full-time Finance Manager to join our team, based at our Central Office in Carlton VIC.
  • You will be employed on an ongoing basis commencing ASAP, and will be employed under the Catholic Education Multi Enterprise Agreement 2022.

You will need:

  • Ability to commit to and work within our Operating Principles; Respect, Participation, Safe and Legal and Honesty.
  • Tertiary degree level qualification in Business/Accounting
  • Professional designation of Certified Practicing Accounting (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA), with ongoing professional learning to maintain designation.
  • Demonstrated applied knowledge or experience across all facets of a high functioning Finance Team, including payroll, debtors, creditors, audits, budgets and taxation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and to work successfully as part
  • of a team, including managing a small Finance Team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to successfully communicate with a range of people.
  • Demonstrated commitment to contributing to a positive team environment.
  • Ability to obtain a Working with Children Check and provide a National Police Check certificate (issued within the last six months)
