TWH Advisory is proud to be partnering with our client who is a sophisticated, privately owned Australian fintech business who have grown significantly over the past 9 years to service a global customer base. Increased scale and international complexity have created the opportunity for a topflight Finance Manager to join their team in 2024.The shareholders of the business are highly entrepreneurial and building out corporate discipline in their operations. Having invested in a professional management team, they are currently delivering on their business plans in each of their chosen global markets by customer segment. The Finance Manager will report into a CFO, and work extensively with the senior leadership team based in Melbourne. The business occupies A-grade Collins Street office space for 180 staff, and the Finance Manager is expected to work from the corporate office as their primary workplace. Key deliverables in the role will include, but not be limited to:

  • Oversee and support the financial control function across the business, including overseeing the management of the continued development of budgeting, financial forecasting, reporting and modelling tools.
  • Oversee the management of cash, crypto currency, funding and overall capital requirements of the business, including daily preparation of cash payments to partners.
  • Oversee the management of all compliance activities including annual audits, tax obligations, regulatory returns and risk as they relate to Finance.
  • Oversee the month-end process, including completion of the general ledger reconciliations and produce team and divisional monthly finance reports.
  • Work with external tax and accounting advisors as necessary.
  • Provide strategic support to the transactional finance team to enhance the use and functionality of the accounting and reporting platform (currently Xero).
  • Provide strategic support to the CFO with the development of any strategic project that requires capital investment or is material to the business.
  • Management of the payroll, partner commission calculations and payment process across the business.
  • Demonstrate an intimate understanding of the financial position and performance at any point in time.
  • Line management and coaching of direct reports in the finance team, inc. offshore team in The Philippines.
  • Oversight of insurance portfolio, lease and premises, telecommunications and services contracts, and relationship management with suppliers.
The Finance Manager will oversee a finance team of 4 staff initially, and work as part of a broader team of 28 people across financial control, FP&A and transactional accounting portfolios globally. In order to be considered for the role, we are targeting the following attributes in the successful candidate:
  • Accounting/Commerce or equivalent degree and completion of the CA/CPA qualification.
  • Experience to Senior Accountant or Manager level in a professional services firm within Business Advisory and/or industry experience as a Finance Manager or Controller.
  • Exemplary leadership and teamwork skills, at all times driving participation and engagement in order to achieve business goals.
  • Experience transacting in crypto currency and storage highly regarded.
  • Previous financial stewardship within a fast-paced business.
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of technical accounting matters and accounting principles; employ this understanding when resolving accounting problems.
  • A keen eye for detail and desire to probe further into the data.
  • Willingness to take on new or unknown challenges with energy and drive.
  • Trouble shoot issues as they arise or are reported to the Finance Team and resolve with urgency.
  • Ability to recognise the necessary prioritisation of workflow and deliver to deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to participate in key decisions and challenge as required.
  • Genuine interest in working within a privately owned business and has empathy and understanding for the dynamics of being a business partner to owners.
  • Experience using Xero and/or Netsuite is highly regarded.
