A leading Property Development company, renowned for its expansive portfolio that includes 20 hotels and 15 restaurants and bars across Australia, Asia, and the U.S., is currently in search of an experienced Assistant Development Manager for their Melbourne office.

This role would suit an experienced Assistant DM who is keen to step up into a DM role.

This company specialises in the operation and management of high-profile Hotels & Estates and offers a comprehensive suite of services that includes acquisitions, development planning, refurbishment delivery, and project management.

With a diverse portfolio of commercially successful projects and room for growth, they are looking to add an Assistant Development Manager to a team of 3 fully fledged Development Managers. Initially, you will support the Development Managers supporting large projects and work towards managing your own projects. They will want you to succeed and progress.

Role Overview:

As the Assistant Development Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the planning, execution, and delivery of their exciting hotel projects. Working closely with the Senior Development Managers and cross-functional teams, you will contribute to development lifecycle from post feasibility to project completion. Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Assisting in the identification and evaluation of potential hotel development opportunities.
  • Collaborating with architects, engineers, and consultants to develop innovative design concepts and solutions.
  • Managing project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Liaising with government authorities, contractors, and other stakeholders to obtain necessary approvals and permits.
  • Monitoring construction progress and quality standards to uphold our commitment to excellence.
  • Supporting the Development Manager in negotiating contracts, leases, and agreements with third-party vendors.

Prerequisites:

  • Bachelor Degree in Finance, Project Management, Construction Management, Property Development, Quantity Surveying, Architecture, or related field
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience within Development Management, ideally with a focus on Residential or hospitality projects.
  • Full and unrestricted Australian working rights
  • Strong understanding of local development processes, including zoning regulations, building codes, and permitting requirements.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to conduct thorough financial analysis and risk assessments.
  • Highly organised, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously, and able to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Open to travel interstate as require for site visits and meetings with stakeholders.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • A commitment to continuous learning and an embrace of an entrepreneurial culture that values innovation and thinking differently.
