The role of the Project Support Officer is to undertake Administrative and Project Support Officer tasks to ensure that the operations of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships Service Centre in Townsville, are effective and efficient in responding to all internal and external demands.
The Project Support Officer is also responsible for providing quality project, program and administrative support for the implementation of local, community and regional strategies, initiatives and projects focused on improving community and economic participation and business development opportunities, including the Youth Employment Program and Business and Procurement.

TARGETED VACANCY - This is an identified position. Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld), there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person.
Applicants must also provide a reference from an Aboriginal person or Torres Strait Islander person who can attest to their knowledge, skills or experience to demonstrate cultural capabilities as required. This person may be a community member, supervisor or work colleague.

Key responsibilities of the Project Support Officer are to:

• Prepare basic correspondence with minimal supervision and provide necessary administrative support for forums and other cross agency meetings to implement whole of government program and service delivery responses to issues impacting on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

• Provide advice to the Manager and other staff of the service Centre on Human Resource policy and procedures.

• Assist with the management and coordination of projects, including research, analysis and preparation of appropriate recommendations, advice and actions.

• Undertake regional engagement activity with local industry and business and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island communities, to identify and facilitate improved economic participation opportunities focused on regional employment and job creation initiatives, including the engagement of year 12 students to promote the Department's Youth Employment Program (YEP).

• Engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, especially the Year 13 cohort, to promote the Economic Participation and Community Participation activities.

• Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders including local industry, private sector, non-government sector, and other government agencies.

Develop and/or maintain accurate and effective office administration financial record management and information systems to support the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships Townsville Service Centre

• Maintain the Service Centre budget and financial management systems and act as a procurement officer for the Service Centre, including activities such as processing invoices for payment, monitoring cost Centre expenditures, ensuring accountability for monies received and paid and preparing budget estimates, forecasts and reconciliations.

• Provide confidential administrative and budget support to the Manager and other staff within the Service Centre

• Other priorities as requested by the Manager, Townsville Service Centre and/or Regional Director.
