Position Purpose

The Aviation Screening Officer's (ASO) role performs duties relevant to the security screening of persons and property at the airport, as defined by the contract with Adelaide Airport in accordance with the appropriate legislation. The Aviation Security division encompasses both Domestic and International security screening at Adelaide Airport, as well as other entry points to the airport grounds for contractors and staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for delivering consistent security practices, ensuring passengers, staff and contractors and their possessions are safely checked and cleared for entry
  • Control access to security sensitive areas, undertaking physical searches, identifying weapons, explosives and prohibited items
  • Efficiently co-ordinate the flow of passengers through security screening points
  • Demonstrate effective communication and sound decision making skills
  • Providing consistent high quality customer service

Qualification

Mandatory

  • The ability to hold an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC), provided by Certis
  • Valid driver's license (full or provisional), with reliable transportation vehicle.

Free 24/7 on-site carparking provided

  • Full 24/7 availability to work on a rotating roster, comprised of early morning AM shifts and evening PM shifts, working a minimum of 56 hours per fortnight.

(Most shifts worked will be during terminal operating hours 3:45am-11:30pm)

Training and Qualifications provided

  • Certificate II in Transport Security Protection (AVI20118) will be provided by Certis upon successful employment (40-hour paid course, in person)
  • Fully accredited and certified to perform Aviation Screening duties as per the requirements of an Aviation Screening Officer (56-hour paid course, in person)
