Advanced Resource Managers are delighted to assist one of the major steelwork fabricators in the UK, in recruiting an Estimator for their well-established secondary steel and architectural metalwork department.

You will work alongside a team of industry professionals to manage and execute secondary steel and metalwork projects across the UK, including steel stairs, metalwork, fire escapes, walkways, handrails, and more. Your role will involve preparing competitive tenders for secondary steelwork and metalwork projects in the UK.

Ideally, you should have a background in Estimating, familiarity with the structural steel fabrication sector, and experience in pricing works encompassing materials, fabrication, labor, transportation/logistics, and quality control/quality assurance, among other elements. Knowledge of industry-specific software like Tekla/StruCAD or a background in fabrication on the shop floor would be advantageous. On-the-job training and growth opportunities will be available.

Required Skills

  • Estimating background, preferably in structural steel/secondary steel/architectural metalwork
  • Demonstrated track record of successful bidding through the tendering process
  • Capability to estimate from first principles and to conduct take-offs from engineers' drawings
  • Education to at least HNC/HND level in construction, commercial, or a related field
  • Strong client-facing skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively and build solid relationships with other team members, especially in production, quality, design/detailing, and project management
