Join us as a Governance Lead, in our friendly and supportive HR & People team on a 12-month contract.

  • A standalone role, you will take ownership of the development and delivery of the Financial Accountability Regime (FAR) standards across the organisation.
  • This is a great opportunity to deliver a highly visible and key piece of work across an ASX listed organisation, where you will ensure we are set up for success in understanding and complying with our regulatory obligations.

About the opportunity


In this newly created position, you'll take full ownership of the successful adoption and embedding of FAR processes across the business ensuring seamless integration into Challenger's existing governance, remuneration and risk frameworks.

You'll be responsible for setting up and driving delivery of the FAR across the business.


Reporting into the Head of Performance, Reward and Operations your core purpose will initially be the execution of the FAR implementation strategy and governance framework, and the subsequent development and implementation of an effective communication strategy & training and education program.

Key responsibilities will include (but aren't limited to)

  • Meeting with Csuite and other senior managers to design and maintain accountability statements and a reasonable steps framework that supports their areas of oversight across three regulated entities.
  • Building and defining the operational processes required to meet the FAR and ensure that all regulatory and legal obligations are integrated into group procedures, policies, and frameworks (including APRA's Prudential Standard CPS 511 _Remuneration_).
  • Developing training programs to educate relevant employees on the principles, requirements, and implications of the FAR.
  • Regular attendance at steering groups and working groups providing timely updates on delivery and working collaboratively to work through any blockers or challenges.
  • Collaborating with Legal, Risk, Company Secretariat, Finance, and other relevant departments to streamline processes, align objectives, and integrate the FAR requirements into existing workflows.
  • Identifying potential risks and barriers to the successful implementation of the FAR and develop mitigation strategies to address them. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to financial accountability.
  • Identifying areas of secondary impact requiring uplift to meet the requirements of the FAR (e.g., remuneration requirements, Design & Distribution Obligations (DDO) and breach reporting processes)
The skills you'll need.


Given the importance of this role it's essential that you have a strong understanding of financial regulations, compliance requirements, and best practices related to accountability and transparency.


You'll have proven experience in a HR/reward/risk management/governance or related role, in the financial services sector of a regulated entity (ADI, RSE, NOHC, insurer).

Previous experience in implementing the Banking Executive Accountability Regime (BEAR) or FAR would be highly valued.

You'll also have.

  • Risk Management and Compliance mindset with experience of establishing and embedding new policies and processes and uplifting existing ones.
  • A proven track record in delivery. You will be a doer who drives results in a fastpaced and changing environment.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization, particularly Senior and Executive management.
  • Solid prioritisation and selforganisation skills with the ability to direct stakeholders and manage tight timelines.
