Overview:

We are looking for an experienced Urban Ecology Coordinator to lead initiatives that enhance native flora and fauna in the city.

Job Details:

  • The position is involved in working with a diversity of internal and external stakeholders, providing technical urban ecology advice, developing and delivering urban ecology education programs and activities, and fostering and supporting community participation.
  • Project manage a range of urban ecology programs and projects, including developing project plans with milestones, timeframes for delivery, budget requirements, project risks, and reporting requirements.
  • Develop specifications, technical investigations, contracts, procedures and other service delivery arrangements for urban ecology. Engage and manage contractors, service providers and consultants in accordance with relevant contracts and the City's policies including risk and safety considerations, ensuring quality service delivery, and value for money.
  • Deliver strong contract and asset management including contract administration and management of financials, relationships, performance, quality, risk, data, programs, timeframes for delivery, reporting, plans, proactive and reactive service levels, renewal projects, audits and WHS.
  • Effectively collect and analyse data using City tools and systems, and report on the implementation of urban ecology strategies, targets, programs and initiatives. Monitor issues and trends in performance, act on data to ensure issues are addressed quickly and identify and address gaps in data required to drive performance.

Skills Required:

  • You will ideally have qualification in urban ecology or science, along with comprehensive understanding of strategic and operational planning, and demonstrated experience in bush restoration or habitat enhancement initiatives, and managing assets, contracts and projects.
  • Excellent communication skills are also required, as is a proven track record in meeting strict deadlines, balancing and responding flexibly to competing priorities, and to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Tertiary qualification in Ecology, Environmental Engineering or Science, or other related field with related competencies and experience in project and/or contract management.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimum supervision, manage tasks and to consistently produce quality work to agreed deadlines, including the ability to effectively manage competing priorities and interests in a high-volume environment.
