The Design and Projects department is responsible for the delivery of Council's major capital works, which include buildings and civil infrastructure. Joining our team means working in a progressive City Council within a region on the rise. Penrith is expected to receive significant growth and investment in the next 20 years, and this position will offer the successful candidate the opportunity to work alongside a team of professionals responsible for achieving quality outcomes for architecture, landscape architecture, civil design and project management.

About the role

The position is responsible for providing leadership to the project delivery team delivering a wide range of multidisciplinary infrastructure and capital works projects. The role is responsible for all aspects of project delivery including planning, procurement, contract management, performance, productivity and reporting for all projects to be delivered.

  • Tertiary qualifications in a Project Management, Civil Engineering or Capital Works related discipline
  • Demonstrated extensive experience in project management
  • Experience in managing a mutli-disciplinary project management team
  • Ability to meet time constraints and delivery projects on time and budget
  • Strong interpersonal communication with ability to negotiate and influence to a variety of stakeholders including senior management, contractors and the community
  • Experience in Local Government, the public sector or a large, diverse organisation
  • Knowledge of relevant provisions of the Local Government Act, Environmental Planning and Assessment Act and other legislation relating to infrastructure planning

Salary: A competitive salary will be negotiated commensurate with the skills, qualifications and experience of the preferred applicant.

Access to a Leaseback Vehicle is available with this position; however, it is not a condition of employment.
