How this position will Make the Difference to City of Melbourne


This role will provide support and advice to new and existing businesses in the City of Melbourne supporting the Invest Melbourne branch.


As the position will act as a main conduit to council for new businesses starting and supporting existing businesses, the role will have a case management approach to resolving enquiries with the City of Melbourne's business community.

This leans on partnering with both internal and external stakeholders, monitoring the Business Concierge customer channels and identifying opportunities for new business start-up.


The Business Concierge will provide direction and advice, supporting activities within the City of Melbourne's Economic Development Strategy and the position will contribute to making Melbourne the easiest place to do business.


What you will bring

  • Ability to demonstrate and display City of Melbourne Values accountability, integrity, courage, respect for self and others, and striving for excellence.
  • An understanding of and strong commitment to customer focused principles and systems and excellence in delivery of customer service.
  • Basic understanding of economic and industry sectors highly desirable (i.e. fintech, biomed, advanced manufacturing, etc.)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to communicate information in a clear and concise manner to a wide audience. Bilingual and multilingual applicants are encouraged to apply.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships, to maintain a positive and professional manner in a fast paced environment, and embrace change.
