Principal Technical Analyst

The Principal Azure Cloud Engineer (known internally as the Principal Technical Analyst) is responsible for taking the lead on designing, building, and configuring highly available server infrastructure for the University's on-campus and Azure public cloud environments.
Key areas of responsibility include taking the lead on the following effective configuration, operation, and management of all server infrastructure environments (with primary focus on Azure public cloud) to deliver a resilient, highly performing/available systems and associated services to the University.
To be successful in this role you will need to have following key attributes/experience:5+ years' experience working in and managing large and complex server environments in production scenarios, both physical and virtual.
Run manage and participate in IT Infrastructure team projects and managing both internal and external stakeholders.
Very comfortable with scripting languages such as PowerShell and/or BASH and using them for automation of configuration.
Ability to mentor and guide and act as principal point of escalation for your peers.
Able to work under pressure and a quick learner and adapt to fast changing environments.
Excellent understanding of implementing, designing, and supporting large IT Infrastructures.
Wide IT Infrastructure background covering (networks, databases, storage etc)
In depth understanding of system Cloud operations tooling (Azure experience ideal).
Experience using and configuring automation tools such as Ansible, Puppet, Terraform or similar.
Good understanding of distributed version control systems such as Azure DevOps, GitHub etc.
In depth knowledge of Windows Server and Red Hat Linux Server operating systems.
Good knowledge of scripting languages such as PowerShell, BASH, or similar and good understanding of JSON. Confidence working with Infrastructure as Code, specifically Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates.
Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to communicate and articulate to all levels of university stakeholders clearly and effectively.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to present to peers as well as producing high quality verbal and written communication (particularly technical documentation skills).
Comfortable with potentially participating in an on-call roster.

This full time, ongoing position attracts a competitive salary plus 17% University superannuation contribution.
