Brisbane Water Secondary College (BWSC) was established in 2002 to expand the educational opportunities of students on the Peninsula by offering a collaborative approach across one school with two distinct campuses.

BWSC is a dynamic comprehensive coeducational 7-12 College that was established to provide pedagogy in learning environments that cater to the nature and specific needs of middle years learners and senior learners.

The Middle School campus of 847 students at Umina caters for students in Years 7-9. This includes 10% ATSI students and 8 Support classes.

High quality learning programs which focus on literacy and numeracy, technology, quality initiatives in future focused learning, CAPA, TSP and Enrichment are all features of the campus.

BWSC is a proud member of the Brisbane Water Learning Community (BWLC) that includes five partner primary schools.


A shared commitment to the vision of a united cohesive K-12 curriculum delivery through quality teaching is the alliance mandate.

The BWLC work together with our local AECG to co-create and collaborate.

Selection Criteria:

Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position.

In addition to the general selection criteria, the applicant must:

  • Demonstrate expert knowledge and the ability to lead and support PDHPE teachers in quality teaching practices and curriculum implementation for a diverse range of learners,
  • Collaborate effectively with the school executive team to implement whole school priorities and initiatives and
  • Foster a collaborative culture that enables problem solving and evidence informed decisions to facilitate an engaging and safe learning environment.

General Selection Criteria:

  • Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
  • Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
  • Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
  • Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
  • Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
