C4I Solutions is actively seeking highly experienced ICT Security Technical Specialist/Analysts to assist the Directorate of ICT Security Management with the assessment, analysis, reporting and ongoing management of ICT Security vulnerabilities within the ICT Security Branch.

This role offers an initial 12-month opportunity, with 2 x 12-month extension options.

Commencement date: 2nd June 2023

About the role:

Role requirements:

  • Assess, analyse, report, and manage ICT Security vulnerabilities using technical skills, processes, and knowledge.
Monitor and influence remediation activities and report on compliance with ASD's Essential Eight strategies and the ISM.
Coordinate with system owners on the remediation of vulnerabilities against relevant controls within the ISM.
Provide mandatory reporting on Department of Defence's compliance with the PSPF.
Conduct enterprise-level vulnerability scanning of the low and high side environment.
Support the Deputy Director Cyber Security Compliance, Defence IT Security Adviser (ITSA), and Chief Information Security Officer (CISO).
Engage the broader patch community through the monthly Cyber Security Compliance Forum.
Produce ICT security advisories to communicate specific vulnerabilities across the Single Information Environment (SIE).
Process requests for non-compliance or patch deferrals from system owners.
Collaborate with operational items such as DSOC and CTI for security advisories from the ACSC and other government agencies.
Provide security advice and assistance to Defence members.
Assist with the scoping, management, and implementation of security measures.
Monitor information security of systems and take appropriate actions in response to cyber security incidents.
Identify and incorporate appropriate security measures in the development of ICT projects and the information security program.
Provide reports on cyber security incidents and areas of concern.
Provide advice and assistance to internal and external stakeholders on ICT security matters.
Assist system owners in understanding and responding to reported audit failures.
Guide the selection of appropriate strategies to achieve the direction set by the Defence CISO.
Contribute to information security awareness and training programs.
Provide support to the Defence ICT security hierarchy in the development of ICT Security policies, procedures, and definitions.

Provide support to the Defence ICT security hierarchy in security solutions and responses to Australian National Audit Office audit findings.

Oversee information security audits, whether performed by organization or third-party personnel.
Assess current technology architecture for vulnerabilities, weaknesses, and possible upgrades or improvements.
Communicate information security goals and new programs effectively with other areas within Defence.

Qualifications & experience:

  • Relevant technical qualifications and certifications related to ICT Security.
Demonstrated experience and expertise in ICT Security.
Knowledge of Information Security frameworks and standards including ISO 27001, NIST & ACSC Essential 8.
Strong analytical skills and ability to assess and manage vulnerabilities.
Excellent communication skills to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Familiarity with Australian Government's Information Security Manual (ISM) and Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF).
Understanding of cyber security incidents and response measures.
Experience in developing and implementing security measures in ICT projects.
Ability to oversee information security audits and provide recommendations.
Familiarity with technology architecture and upgrades.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Additional essential criteria:

  • Must hold a minimum AGSVA Negative Vetting 1 Security Clearance
