About the role

McConnell Dowell Constructors (Aust.) Pty Ltd are currently recruiting for experienced Procurement professionals to join our Procurement team located in Melbourne, Victoria.

As a Procurement Manager, you will also be accountable for the following:

  • Management, coordination and delivery of procurement activities
  • Lead the Procurement process, negotiate and recommend major project packages including initiating requests for quotations, evaluation and negotiation of contracts, the expediting of deliveries/services and negotiate/advise on rise and fall clauses for FX and commodities.
  • Lead, facilitate and coordinate the involvement of key stakeholders (Quality, Safety, Environment, Engineering, Planning, etc) on package sourcing decisions
  • Manage, coordinate and assist Project teams with procurement resources. This will include providing "hands on" support for project Procurement activities, i.e., taking responsibility for project packages and running the process.
  • Initiate and ongoing management and preparation of Procurement Plan's and associated documents for all projects in the region.
  • Manage delivery of cost savings targets against project budgets for project procured items.
  • Facilitate access and utilisation of national and regional supply contracts on to project sites.
  • Report and represent Procurement in the region with Group Procurement.
  • Lead and/or participate as team member for supplier negotiations.
  • Preparation of supplier, subcontractor and consultant contract forms ensuring appropriate forms and commercial terms are duly incorporated and provide advice accordingly.
  • Establish and approve sources of materials both locally and overseas.
  • Manage and promote the Business Unit training of goods and services procurement and ensure the Business Unit's training activities are planned to meet current and future organisation and employee needs.
  • Ensure the maintenance and continual improvement of procurement procedures.
  • Timely accounts processing.

About your capability, behaviours and experience:

  • Experience in local and international procurement with exposure to an engineering, construction, project or heavy manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications, industry knowledge desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to execute large procurement programs from concept through implementation.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse procurement issues and provide solutions through appropriate problemsolving techniques.
  • Demonstrated communications and relationship management ability including customer service orientation towards internal customers and stakeholders.
  • Ability to think laterally and to effectively prioritise
  • Competent in use of all relevant inhouse systems and software
  • Sound commercial acumen accompanied by proven negotiation and interrelationship skills.
  • Clear and definitive written and verbal communication
  • Hold valid work rights
