This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced market research professional to be responsible for leading a team to deliver strategic direction for clients through a high quality of research methodology, strategic insight, and project management.

As an Account Director, you will actively manage a team to meet the clients' needs on time and within budget, as well as actively developing new business whilst contributing to the team culture and coaching others.

Skills and ExperienceAt least 8 years commercial market research experience in Account management roles.

Experience in market understanding projects (segmentation, U&A, Shopper)While being obsessed with the accuracy and detail that are crucial to delivery, you do this in the context of understanding the bigger picture and have the ability to see things through both the client and customer lensYou will have excellent written and oral communication skillsEffective at multi-tasking and able to manage time, cost and quality to achieve great client satisfaction and project profitabiltyYou will be a motivated self-starter that can also work well in a cohesive teamGood hands-on knowledge of SPSS, Q or similar.

Relevant tertiary qualifications and preferably QPMRStrong team development / coaching experience and previous people management responsibility.

  • Electrode fabrication, battery assembly, electrochemical characterisation, and data analysis
  • Cathode and anode fabrication at labscale and pilot scale.
  • Coin cells, single layer pouch cells, multi-layer pouch cells and cylindrical cells assembly.
  • Scaling up of electrode fabrication and cell assembling processes.
  • Develop new electrode fabrication methods and new cell designs for innovative electrode materials.
  • Quality control the assembled batteries and refine the electrode and cell making processes through iterations.
  • Undertake research and development projects to commercialise new technologies as well as optimise current processes and products.
  • Collaborate with other parties such as University and Industry researchers to enhance research output and promote the organisations reputation. May be required to operate in the university laboratories under the terms of a laboratory access agreement between the Company and the University.
  • Characterise battery materials using electrochemical, physical and materials characterisation techniques (galvanic charge-discharge, CV, EIS, GITT, SEM, TEM, TGA, BET etc.)
  • Collaborate with Material Scientists to apply the characterisation of the material to ensure the understanding of the electrochemical performance of the material.
  • Provide troubleshooting and hands-on support for ongoing projects.
  • Actively communicate with the team during projects to ensure a coordinated design and completion of deliverables.
  • Actively and meticulously engage in record keeping, experimental data capturing, report writing and development of Intellectual Property.
  • Ensure work complies to applicable Australian codes/standards of practise to include WHS and quality control, accepted engineering practices and Company standards.
  • Where applicable, supervise entry level team members, providing ongoing coaching and training in relevant areas

What you will need is:

  • Degree qualification (Masters or above preferable) in Chemistry, Materials Sciences, Physics, or Materials Engineering
  • Experience in prototyping cells with new materials (pouch cells or cylindrical cells)
  • Experienced in roll-to-roll electrode fabrication and lithium-ion battery assembly.
  • 2+ years exposure to the battery industry beyond the laboratory (preferred).
  • Demonstrated research experiences in lithium-ion batteries or related fields.
  • Materials handling experience, both solids and solution-based formulations and characterisation of such.
  • Experienced in designing and conducting experiments and analysing and interpreting results.
  • Experienced in electrode and cell design based on materials properties.
  • Experienced in troubleshooting the electrode and battery fabrication processes.
  • Experienced in daily equipment maintenance.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A high attention to detail and quality of work.
