Our client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Human Resources Business Partner, to join their team. Reporting to the Manager, People and Capability, this role is pivotal in partnering with directors and managers to deliver high-level coaching, strategic advice, and support throughout the employment life cycle. This position is an excellent opportunity for a true business partner to launch significant programs and initiatives aimed at enhancing industry capability and driving engagement.

Role Summary: The Senior Business Partner, People and Capability, is responsible for proactively managing a range of people initiatives and cases. The role focuses on implementing contemporary people practices, building high-performing teams, and driving organisational development initiatives. You will utilise data and analytics to inform evidence-based discussions and people strategies, ensuring the application of relevant legislation and HR policies.

Key Accountabilities:

  1. Provide coaching and strategic advice to leaders on performance management, recruitment, change, culture and engagement, wellbeing, recognition, conflict management, career development, and other people policies and processes.
  2. Lead the implementation of frameworks and initiatives, including talent and succession planning, fairness and consistency reviews, and career pathways/planning.
  3. Apply strong business acumen to understand organisational opportunities and challenges, translating these into people plans to build high-performing teams.
  4. Drive contemporary people practices and organisational development initiatives to build capability.
  5. Use data and analytics to support evidence-based discussions and drive people strategies and initiatives.
  6. Focus on early intervention and local resolution to manage people concerns, including assessment of workplace issues, negotiating, and applying appropriate actions while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, industrial instruments, and HR policies.
  7. Prepare and present detailed reports, advice, and briefings, as well as regular and ad hoc reports, correspondence, and other documentation relating to employment activities.
  8. Develop and maintain strong relationships with various internal and external stakeholders, including senior management, Victorian Public Service (VPS) departments, and associated industry bodies.
  9. Conduct in-depth analysis of trends affecting resource requirements and recommend potential solutions.
  10. Support the Manager, People and Capability, and participate in other projects and duties as required.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proven experience in a senior HR role, with a strong focus on strategic business partnering.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and implement HR frameworks and initiatives.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to translate organisational challenges into effective people plans.
  • Proficiency in using data and analytics to drive evidence-based HR strategies.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation, industrial instruments, and HR policies.
