Port Hedland Primary School (PS) is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, energetic and positive Deputy Principal who has the ability to promote a positive school culture and is committed to making a difference.

The successful applicant should display high level knowledge of the Western Australian curriculum and related DOE initiatives. Through coaching the applicant will be able to lead teachers in utilising an inclusive approach that balances the explicit teaching required to develop sound literacy and numeracy skills, with cooperative and collaborative techniques that support social and emotional development.

The role would require you to support Professional Learning Communities, that focus on student learning, effective lesson design and high levels of collaboration. The successful applicant should also possess extensive knowledge in whole school approaches to curriculum, data analysis, and the ability to successfully assist staff with identifying key areas of focus to support the school's vision, Business Plan and Operational Plans. A key component of the role is to lead curriculum supported by data and evidence.

The successful applicant will have a deep understanding of how to differentiate to meet the needs of all students and the ability to guide staff in using a variety of assessment tools to inform progress.

To be successful in this role, you will ideally be a passionate educator, committed to making a difference in the lives of young people. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively as part of a team environment.

The particular portfolios of our Deputy Principals will be negotiated with the successful applicant. Strengths in early childhood and/or Years 3 to 6 as well as Literacy and Numeracy leadership would be well regarded as would experience with HRMIS, timetabling, data triangulation, mentoring and support of beginning teachers.

An understanding of social emotional wellbeing for students and effective strategies to assist students to self-regulate will be highly regarded. Port Hedland PS promotes an inclusive and friendly environment.

The successful applicant should ideally have outstanding interpersonal skills to develop strong relationships with all stakeholders of the school community. Strong curriculum knowledge and the ability to lead professional learning communities is an integral part of the role. The position has a Curriculum and ICT Leadership focus.

Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings; High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes; Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs). Capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources.
