Job Overview: As a Financial Accountant, the selected candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining the financial health and compliance of the organization. Responsibilities include analyzing financial data, ensuring regulatory compliance, and providing strategic insights to support business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting: Preparation and analysis of financial statements such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards (AASB) and regulatory requirements.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Assisting in the development of annual budgets and financial forecasts, including variance analysis and recommendations for enhanced financial performance.
  • Financial Analysis: Conducting detailed financial analysis to aid strategic decision-making, identifying risks and opportunities, and contributing to business planning efforts.
  • Month-End and Year-End Close: Managing month-end and year-end close processes to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Tax Compliance: Collaboration with external tax advisers to ensure adherence to Australian tax regulations, covering Goods and Services Tax (GST) and Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT), as well as assistance in tax return preparation.
  • Internal Controls: Establishment and maintenance of strong internal controls to protect company assets and maintain financial reporting integrity.
  • Audit Support: Coordinating with external auditors during annual audits, providing necessary documentation and assistance for a smooth audit process.
  • Process Improvement: Identifying opportunities for process optimization, reporting enhancements, and efficiency improvements within the finance function.
  • Ad-Hoc Projects: Supporting special projects and initiatives assigned by senior management, applying financial expertise to achieve successful outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • Preferably a CPA or CA designation.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in financial accounting or related roles, with a preference for experience in the Australian market.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., MYOB, Xero, SAP) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards (AASB), taxation laws, and regulatory requirements.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex financial data and communicate insights effectively.
  • Attention to detail and a dedication to delivering accurate and timely financial reports.
  • Capability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic team setting.
