The Role
As the Manager, FP&A you will partner with the business to deliver quality insights and management information. This includes monitoring and production of information to monitor expenses, underwriting, and investment performance.

The FP&A team is responsible for preparing regular and ad-hoc analysis, reporting and presentations for senior stakeholders. The FP&A team partners with Corporate Actuarial and the wider business to prepare the annual 5 year business plan.

This role is responsible for the accounts payable and treasury activities including cash flow management.

As the remit of the role is broad it includes compliance with taxes, payroll and investment management activities including portfolio optimisation.


The FP&A team is responsible for quarterly management information packs for the Global Protection Executive Committee of PL Re and the local Pacific Life Re Australia Board.

Other regular deliverables include Investment Committee packs and assisting with the quarterly financial close.


This role will at times be required to assist the Finance Australia team support business unit projects by participating and managing ad-hoc tasks and projects as and when required.


This role offers an opportunity to partner across the business, analyse financial performance and drive value through recommendations, utilising your influencing skills.


In this role you will be a key member of a strong and diverse team and will gain wide exposure across all functions in the Australian Business Unit.

This role requires some out of hours calls with the group FP&A team based in the UK.

Duties

  • Preparation and review of key management information including quarterly reporting, reporting to various committees and internal stakeholders
  • Partner with Corporate Actuarial to deliver the annual business plan
  • Manage investment portfolios, treasury activities and cashflow
  • Adhoc financial analysis to support PL Re Division and Pacific Life Group initiatives
  • Partner with the wider business to deliver financial insights

Qualifications & Experience

Essential Experience

  • At least 2 years post qualified experience
  • Specialist understanding of accounting and control in the life insurance industry
  • Demonstrated ability to improve processes and challenge the status quo
  • Able to add value through effective financial analysis demonstrating influencing and presentation skills
  • Able to simplify complex problems and present these in concise reports and presentations
  • Able to frame issues, and make recommendations to enable quick and sound decision making
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficiency in Excel
  • Insurance industry experience desirable
