What you will do as the Executive Director, International Engagement

The Executive Director, International Engagement, will lead the ACCC's International Group, providing strategic direction and facilitating operational coherence to 3 international teams. The ED will develop and execute the strategic direction for ACCC's international engagement to ensure alignment with ACCC's strategic objectives and enhance its international posture and capability. You will:

  • lead the ACCC's international engagement program, delivering on multiple varied goals in a dynamic environment.
  • manage relationships with key stakeholders including international multilateral organisations, overseas competition and consumer authorities, and other Australian Government agencies.
  • articulate and pursue strategic goals for the ACCC's international engagement, aligning effort with agency objectives.
  • foster a safe and constructive working environment for around 20 people, through 3 directors who will report to you.

About you

In order to succeed in the role, you will have:

  • a strong and demonstrated understanding of the competition provisions of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 and other relevant legislation.
  • demonstrated ability to exercise exceptional judgment under pressure to decide the right course of action in challenging, sensitive and complex scenarios.
  • strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence, persuade and negotiate.
  • a demonstrated ability to engage effectively and work cohesively with internal and external partners and stakeholders, including in a cross-cultural context.
  • experience leading and developing professional staff, and continuously improving cross-team performance and practices.

Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as economics, law or similar fields will be highly regarded.

Note: This will initially be a 12-month non-ongoing engagement with the opportunity for ongoing engagement.

Salary: $161,911 (plus 15.4% superannuation). The role may also have an allowance of up 10% to recognise the higher work value. Please note that all IFAs are reviewed annually in accordance with the IFA policy and are not ongoing.
