About the role
Calvary Mater Newcastle's Department of Radiation Oncology is NSW's largest regional specialist radiation therapy centre. It offers world-class radiation therapy using precision technology to deliver the best available treatment to patients.
The Medical Physics Specialist will participate in all clinical medical physics activities in radiation oncology and related education, research, development and training.
Key ResponsibilitiesProvision of high-quality medical physics services including in treatment planning, linear accelerator quality assurance, patient treatment verification
Ensuring safe and effective implementation and testing of new technology and techniques in the department
Planning and management of multi-disciplinary projects to improve treatment quality and efficiency.
Participation in staff education and training, and clinical research projects.
Application of physics and mathematical skills to solve clinical problems to ensure and advance care.
What you bring
A post graduate degree in medical physics and a first degree in a physical science as recognised by NOOSRA
ACPSEM Accreditation or Registration in Radiation Oncology Medical Physics or have passed the final written examination.
Demonstrated high level of professional practice and experience covering a wide range of modern radiation oncology practice.
Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
Demonstrated organisational skills, including the ability to work proficiently in periods of high demand.
A desire to join a team committed to the care of others in a mission-based organisation.

The Calvary Mater Newcastle is an Affiliated Health Organisation providing services to both public and private patients primarily from the Hunter New England area.
Current employees of NSW Health can request to have various leave entitlement balances transferred to Calvary Mater Newcastle on commencement.
