Details

: The ACT Instrumental Music Program (IMP) facilitates instrumental tuition in an ensemble setting in schools through an itinerant teaching team of specialist music teachers. This includes brass, woodwind, percussion, strings, and ukulele in our primary schools as well as concert band in high schools. The IMP also facilitate the Arts Up Front Conference and Step into the Limelight.

As an IMP Classroom teacher you will be responsible for:

creating a learning environment which stimulates learning and promotes excellence, and which accepts and acknowledges the needs of students to be both challenged and supported; maintaining knowledge of, and the ability to implement, effective and inclusive teaching and learning processes, including skills in the use of a variety of musical instruments and assessment strategies, to establish a challenging learning environment in which students are encouraged to work towards attainment of their potential; demonstrate at all times active support of the IMP aims, objectives, policies and guidelines; make the best use of IMP and Education Directorate resources available; identify learner needs, conferring with relevant staff in the School; use a variety of teaching and learning techniques to meet the individual needs of students; present and explain criteria for assessment to students in advance; provide timely and useful feedback about completed assessment items to students; report on student learning formally and informally; fulfil all requirements relating to assessment, its composition and documentation as set out by the IMP, the Education Directorate and the Australian Curriculum; undertake individual and team curriculum review and planning; communicate with students, staff and parents/carers in a clear, respectful and professional way in order to optimise each student's development;

Eligibility/Other Requirements:

Experience or expertise in woodwind, brass or percussion teaching; Formal qualifications in music and education; Experience leading music ensembles through rehearsal and performance.

Notes: This position is part-time at (29:40) hours per week and the full-time salary noted above will be pro-rata. An order of merit will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill future identical vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only.
