Nation-leading public school pay and conditions. Incremental salary progression, rewarding your expertise and dedication to teaching. Up to $12K relocation reimbursement offered for interstate teachers.

This year theACT Government launched . The strategy reaffirms our commitment to ensuring all children and young people, regardless of their circumstances, have access to high quality education on the same basis as their peers.

Are you passionate about equity in education and an inspiring and skilled teacher, specialising in Disability education (preschool to year 12)? If so, we invite you to join our growing public education system.

In ACT public schools, you can use your expertise to teach across both primary and secondary settings. We have positions in P-6 primary schools, 7-10 high schools, larger P-10 schools and in colleges (teaching years 11 and 12).

We are looking for teachers who are enthusiastic, empathetic, innovative, and willing to engage and nurture their students' curiosity and creativity. Our teachers are responsible for designing and delivering education to foster the cognitive, social and emotional development of all students; to work collaboratively, model strong interpersonal skills to support other staff, students and families. This includes making reasonable adjustments so students with diverse learning needs can access and participate in education on the same basis as their peers. In the ACT there are a range of education setting options, including all children and young people being welcomed at their local school if they choose.

As the demand for quality public education grows, the ACT Government continues to invest in building new schools and programs; and to modernise and upgrade existing ones. We continue to value and invest in our teachers' wellbeing and professional development, recognising that a sense of belonging and inclusive schools are critical to helping children and young people develop and learn in supportive and safe environments.

Our Disability Educators benefit from incremental salaries starting from $84,978, and $101,477 to $119,288 for experienced educators, making a career in public education the right choice for you and the young people you teach.

Whether you're seeking a permanent or contract position, we can assist you in finding the teaching role that best suits your needs.

Benefits of working in ACT public schools:

Joining the ACT Education Directorate is not just a teaching position for now, it's a choice for your future.

We offer nation-leading public school pay and conditions and a better classification structure that supports school leaders, new educators, and experienced teachers. Our Enterprise Agreement provides an investment of more than $201 million in our teaching workforce from the commencement of the Agreement until the end of the financial year. You'll receive benefits and entitlements that place us as an employer of choice for teachers.

If you're a new educator, our three-year New Educator Support Program has been designed to set you up for success as you begin your teaching career and provides you with reduced-face-to-face teaching hours and an extensive calendar of training and professional learning opportunities.

If you're an experienced teacher, you'll benefit from opportunities to progress your career and move schools without the need to relocate, as our 90 plus schools are all within a 30-minute drive from wherever you live in Canberra.

All ACT public school classroom teachers are ensured:

Better workloads that prioritise developing educational leadership, innovative teaching, and learning. 4 staff development days a year (student free), held at the beginning of each term. The right to disconnect outside of work hours and enjoy a better work/life balance.

About you:

As a teacher employed by the ACT Education Directorate, you will be a dynamic, professional, and contemporary educator who will:

Have subject expertise and the ability to teach across a broad age and ability range. Demonstrate an ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a team environment with like-minded educators who have a passion for teaching and their specialisation. Have strong classroom management skills enabling a supportive and inclusive learning environment. Commit to collaborative professional learning and development as an educator. Safeguard and promote the welfare of children.

In our Specialist School settings, you will provide rigorous, authentic, hands-on learning experiences to meet students at their point of need. You will work with staff, students and families to develop a Personal Future Document (PFD) that follows each student throughout, and beyond their schooling. The PFD is a central part to each individual's learning and aims to provide a seamless pathway through school and into post school life.
