About the Role

The Director Transformation is a critical leadership position focused on service delivery organisational transformation planning and implementation. The primary purpose of this position is to provide leadership in developing and achieving the Monash Health transformation agenda which will transform how frontline healthcare is delivered. This transformation program will ensure Monash Health has a sustainable future as the largest and a leading public health service in Victoria.

Reporting to the General Manager and a core member of the Strategy, Transformation & Projects (STP) leadership team, the Director will provide leadership and management for major organisation-wide projects and initiatives, including enterprise, business unit and service-level transformation projects. This will include coordination of a large team of clinical & non-clinical experts who will partner with the service delivery teams to build innovative organisational structures, systems and processes.

The scope of this role includes leadership and professional development of a team of delivery Partners engaged for fixed term projects. This team is intended to have a high level of project and program management skills and to take accountability for individual priorities or programs of work that deliver the overall transformation objectives. This is a full-time position (part time considered) based at Monash Medical Centre, Clayton. The Director may need to travel to and from other Monash Health sites.

About You

You are an accomplished leader with demonstrated experience delivering high-profile transformational and/or change work within a health care or community environment. You have experience with transformation across multiple areas – from the clinical frontline to corporate level, and in varying project modalities such as process improvement, reorganisation, and system development. You have acquired this experience through frontline clinical service, execution of transformation programs, and background in top-tier or healthcare focussed consulting. Your leadership skills are highly developed, with strong experience developing a small teams into a large & top-tier functioning directorates which can achieve outstanding results.

You lead by example, thrive working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and are truly passionate about delivering a high standard of fit-for-purpose health services and programs to the largest public health catchment in Victoria. You are an advocate of Monash Health's Strategic Guiding Principles.

What You Need

Experience leading dispersed, interdisciplinary teams to deliver complex transformation projects across:

  • Multiple levels e.g. Clinical frontline to senior management
  • Multiple modalities e.g. Process improvement, re-organisation, system change / development, change management
  • Experience facilitating discussion of transformation opportunities at executive level
  • Strong understanding of operational areas within a Health Service, and a demonstrated ability to engage effectively across all areas to influence change
  • Experience identifying and prioritising transformation opportunities that will deliver organisational strategy
  • Highly developed analytical and problem solving skills with demonstrated ability in managing a range of complex tasks across a number of operational areas and organisational priorities
  • Excellent engagement and influencing skills including a demonstrated ability to align diverse stakeholders
  • Demonstrated high-level project management skills, the ability to develop a culture of continuous improvement and innovation and evidence of success in operating significant projects
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring experience, with an ability to build trust and credibility, coupled with the demonstrable capability to develop stakeholder-focused solutions
  • Demonstrated leadership in development of people, processes and systems to form a high performing team
  • Strong commercial acumen and a strong understanding of funding arrangements in the Victorian Health context
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent negotiation skills including effective engagement with senior external stakeholders for the purpose of alignment of priorities
  • Demonstrated capability leading a team to deliver outputs on time and within budget
  • Ability to work as part of a team, including internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience in a frontline clinical role and top-tier (MBB or Big Four) or healthcare focussed consulting is desirable
