The Team


The Banking Division, which includes the FRST team, is responsible for the prudential supervision of all authorised deposit-taking institutions including banks, building societies, credit unions and other entities performing banking related functions in Australia.

Your key accountabilities and responsibilities:

  • People. Effectively lead a team of specialised professionals delivering high quality outcomes and fostering an inclusive environment that creates a sense of belonging.

Strategic management. Develop, deliver and maintain business plans for the division ensuring alignment with APRA's strategic, business, and operational objectives and priorities.

Critical thinking and judgement. Thinking broadly and holistically about the issues facing entities, the industry and the system and taking an APRA enterprise perspective.

Relationship management. Effectively represent APRA and proactively develop constructive relationships with a wide range of external stakeholders, including Government, industry stakeholders and international regulators.

Stakeholder management. Build trusted and constructive relationships with key stakeholders across APRA to understand needs, identify issues early and deliver good outcomes.

Business/operational management. Champion the APRA mission and values and translate that into the team's operational approach that is risk based and outcomes focused. Drive operational effectiveness and simplification in the delivery of the organisation's ongoing business and change initiatives.

About you

  • An understanding of APRA's mandate, objectives, functions, prudential framework, and processes
  • Strong financial risk background and wellinformed market trends and legislative environment
  • Anticipates emerging regulatory, industry and technological challenges, risk and opportunities with a holistic regulatory approach
  • Proven experience leading and influencing during times of change and transformation within a commercial banking context
  • Ability to influence sound outcomes with senior executives and boards in supervised entities
  • Fosters an inclusive environment that creates a sense of belonging and trust, and allows people to actively contribute, and to reach their full potential
  • Takes leadership in anticipating, identifying and addressing systemic and idiosyncratic entity risks within APRA's prudential framework
  • Able to set clear and compelling functional direction, knowing when to move to action and deliver outcomes. Ensures good risk management practices across the branch
  • Excellent organisational, self and priority management skills.
  • You have professional qualifications in relevant field and/or equivalent experience
