About the Role:

We are on the lookout for a Safety and Environmental Advisor to assist our project managers in enforcing safety and environmental compliance systems. This role involves guiding the implementation of secure construction practices and offering advice on relevant safety and environmental standards at an industrial and organizational level to clients, peers, and contractors.Key Responsibilities include but not limited to:
  • Maintain client relationships with EPC, BoP, and S&I Contractors in a collaborative manner.
  • Ensure compliance with state laws and regulations by setting up RES project systems.
  • Monitor and report on contractors' project systems to ensure legal compliance.
  • Support continuous improvement of project delivery policies, procedures, and templates.
  • Oversee that safety and emergency response plans are effectively communicated and utilized by all project staff and subcontractors.
  • Assist in implementing, updating, monitoring, and reviewing RES Safety and Environmental Management plans.
  • Conduct site safety inspections as per the designated schedule.
  • Facilitate incident reporting, investigation coordination, and safety alert generation.
  • Review and maintain job-specific health and safety documentation in alignment with the Health & Safety Management System.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of safety meetings and project discussions.
  • Suspend construction activities and notify the Project Manager in case of significant safety or environmental risks.
  • Prepare safety and environmental reports for RES and clients, along with compiling project statistics for monthly reports.
  • Monitor and enforce project site rules, report violations, and halt work when necessary.
  • Drive a culture of recording hazard reports, observations, and inspections systematically.
  • Provide advice to the Construction Project Manager on safety and environmental matters.
  • Maintain safety performance statistics, identify trends, and implement corrective actions.
  • Engage in subcontractor-led incident investigations and communicate outcomes effectively.
Skills & Experience
  • Possess specialized knowledge in HSQE for project teams.
  • Understanding of construction processes for renewable energy projects in Australia.
  • Familiarity with ISO 45001 and WHS legislation in Australia.
  • Collaborative work with clients' contractors to enhance safety culture.
  • Offer feedback on safety management system enhancements.
  • Monitor and audit to ensure appropriate Work Instructions are in place.
  • Suggest innovative improvement programs for the business.
  • Ensure timely closure of actions in the project register.
  • Demonstrate success in safety and environmental initiatives within a team.
  • Effective communication and guidance provision for stakeholders.
  • Summarize WHS and environmental risks for informed project decisions.
  • Display effective planning, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Competent in MS Office applications.
  • Experience in renewable energy projects is beneficial.
  • Logical thinking, technical comprehension, and innovative problem-solving.
  • Frequent travel to sites across Australia.
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, self-driven, and autonomous.
  • Manage multiple deadlines, adaptability, and willingness to challenge conventions.
  • Hold a valid driver's license.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in a Health, Safety, and Environment role.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in a construction environment.
  • Certificate 4 in Workplace Health and Safety holder.
  • Qualification in Environmental Management holder.
  • Preferred Lead Auditor Training in OHS Management Systems.
  • Preferred Lead Auditor in Environmental Management Systems.
