The Role:


Reporting to the Head of Marketing and Communications the Manager, Media and Reputation role is responsible for leading Melbourne Water's strategic approach to media and reputation management and performance.


This will be achieved through:

  • Manage the development and delivery of MW's media and reputation strategy and oversee its end to end implementation
  • Manage complex media issues and brief, support, guide key MW's Executive Leadership team members on media strategy, tactics and preparation for media interviews
  • Where required, brief Board and Executive Leadership team on emerging media and reputation issues and proposed media management strategy, tactics and approach.
  • Manage key relationships with journalists, media outlets and external providers to deliver sophisticated media responses and strategy management.
  • Lead the implementation of new andbest practise processes, systems and protocols to ensure real time monitoring and management of proactive media coverage and emerging issues.
  • Lead an agile media team, building capability and strategically directing media resources based on priority and needWork collaboratively with key stakeholders to build awareness and understanding of our services, the goals and the challenges we face in the decade that matters.

Your Skills and Experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Public Affairs/Media and/or communications
  • 10+ years' experience in media, brand and reputation management
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, driving and delivering integrated media and reputation management strategy
  • Ability to translate business strategy into operational performance and financial outcomes
  • Professional leadership 'growth' mindset and behaviours
  • Inspire through role modelling of values, mindsets and habits to bring to life our desired culture
  • Enthusiastically take action and drive business results
  • Ability to lead change and communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders
