The Role


If you are an experienced Registered (RN) or Enrolled Nurse (EN) with aspirations of working in the perioperative environment, or a nurse with previous theatre experience who would like to return to the workforce, join the Epworth perioperative team through our Introduction to Specialty Practice (ISP).


This highly sought-after role is designed to meet the specific theoretical and practical needs of a nurse wishing to pursue or further their career in the perioperative setting.

Our July 2023 intake is based at Epworth Geelong and Epworth Freemasons.

The ISP program:

Commences 24th July 2023 and is a 12-month program with an ongoing position upon completion

Is designed to introduce and expand on the concepts of perioperative nursing in areas of Scrub/Scout and/or Anaesthetics/PACU

Enables participants to develop an understanding of the principles and practice of perioperative nursing and ensure they have attained a satisfactory level of competency to work in a safe and effective manner

Combination of theory, simulation and clinical exposure will be used to deliver and assess program content

Commences with a study block (full time) where pre and post reading material will be provided

Provides performance appraisals and regular feedback at various intervals throughout the program

Includes paid study days facilitated by experienced Epworth perioperative educators

Essential

Current AHPRA registration

12 months experience post-registration in an acute hospital setting (RN or EN)

To be successful in this role

You have a commitment to learning and upskilling in this specialised area.

All of the course requirements and study days will be attended and you will be committed to your ongoing educational needs.
