Established in 1871, the Art Gallery of New South Wales is located in Sydney's The Domain adjacent to the Royal Botanic Garden and near the Central Business District, the Gallery acknowledges the original custodians of this land - the Gadigal people of the Eora nation.

The Gallery attracts around 1 million visitors annually and runs Australia's largest education program with over 90,000 student and teacher visits per year.


With our expanded campus recent opening the Gallery has a new state-of-the-art building located next to our existing and much-loved building.

Providing us with close to double the exhibition space, the expanded Gallery enables us to share more art with more people and provide more family, learning and educational programming for all our audiences.

About the role


Devise and deliver communications across multiple media platforms, to support the Art Gallery of NSW to deliver targeted, engaging, and effective promotions and communications to broad audiences and stakeholders.

What technical / soft skills you require

  • Superior written and oral communication skills to create, prepare and edit speeches, messages, media releases, media alerts, citations, presentations or briefs, as required, to a high level.
  • Capability in the creation, dissemination and delivery of content across digital and printed media channels.
  • Experience in communications delivery in a cultural institution and awareness of cultural sector preferable.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal stakeholders.

Targeted questions

  • Describe how you have conceived, developed and delivered a communications campaign that was successful and innovative. How did you measure success? What was innovative about the campaign?
  • Describe a project that best demonstrates your project management skills. What strategies did you put in place to ensure the project ran smoothly? What were the outcomes?
