The position

This role will be an integral member of our Public Affairs and Communications team and together with the Novo Nordisk Oceania cross-functional business units will lead the day-to-day responsibilities of planning and executing an impactful external communications strategy.

- The key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • In close collaboration with the Novo Nordisk business units, this strategic communications role will drive an integrated communications strategy and manage and measure the implementation of the strategy in the affiliate. Deliver strategic disease awareness communications programmes.
  • Media relations and engagement with consumer media. Prepare press releases, media statements, Q&A's, stakeholder communications and other media communication materials as required. Ensure effective handling of change, crisis and issues management across the affiliate.
  • Train and advise local stakeholders on communication strategy, key messages and delivery, including media training.
  • Support internal communications, inspiring and developing our employees into ambassadors that will help build and protect Novo Nordisk's reputation. Support Public Affairs colleagues to deliver the Oceania Public Affairs strategy as required.
  • Managing assigned budgets including active efforts to secure funding for initiatives. Ensure all activities comply with relevant laws, codes and the Novo Nordisk Business Ethics framework.

Qualifications

  • A university degree preferably in health, business, science, PR, communication or related areas.
  • Experience in planning and executing external communications strategies in pharmaceutical/healthcare from consultancy or industry. Media relations experience and a good understanding of effectively working with communication networks to achieve business outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess media and communication tactical impact, return on investment and make recommendations for change as well as ability to influence and prepare senior management on leadership communications, issues and crisis management.
  • Effectively managing agency relationships, providing direction, project management and performance reviews. Ability to work collaboratively on project execution with internal/external stakeholders and enable effective relationships locally, across a global organization and with external agencies/partners.
  • Experience in utilizing social media effectively, working in a matrix organization and managing complex crossorganizational projects. Business acumen, strong social and communications skills. Must either be an Australian or New Zealand Citizen or have a current residency Visa to live and work in AU/NZ.
