The Role
This is a rare opportunity for a highly experienced claims specialist to join an established, and growing, claims unit with a focus on a high-value, often litigated portfolio of complex claims across the professional indemnity and property liability space (Financial Lines).
Key accountabilities of this role include the following;
- Management and strategic oversight of a portfolio of complex liability claims at a senior level, where you'll exhibit technical expertise consistent with industry best practice
- Provide strategies and solutions, collaborating with internal legal teams, and briefing panel firms and Counsel where required, in the management of legal issues or other claims complexities arising from cluster claims, class actions or otherwise high value or contentious claims in the Specialty portfolio
- Provide specialist technical advice in relation to strategy or settlement authorisation and indemnity decisions
- Manage and influence stakeholders across your relevant functional area to promote alignment of claims strategies - these could include U/W, Distribution, Team Leaders and Tech Specialists, Brokers, Panel LawFirms and other 3rd party service providers
- This role will require the followng; Technical expertise (Professional Indemnity in particular), a solutions-focused mindset, collaboration with multiple parties, mentorship skills, litigated claims exposure, and a strong customer-centric attitude.
About You
- MUST have at least 5 years experience in managing a complex folio of professional indemnity or liability claims in a senior claims role. Experience gained inside an Insurance focused Law firm would be considered.
- A tertiary qualification (Law, Business, Insurance ideally)
- Industry qualifications (Diploma in Financial Services / GI)
- Litigated claims exposure
- Coach and mentoring ability, or former 2IC would be desirable
- Experience in relation to the above requirements MUST come from the "General Insurance" industry (candidates from other Insurance lines will not be considered).
