Situated just 16 kilometres from the city on Sydney's leafy North Shore, Ku-ring-gai is known for its natural beauty and urban villages.

Ku-ring-gai stretches from near the Roseville cinema in the south to Wahroonga Park in the north and from St Ives Showground in the east to Lane Cove National Park in the west.

Ku-ring-gai LGA contains nine suburbs with local business centres (Gordon, Killara, Lindfield, Pymble, Roseville, St Ives, Turramurra, Wahroonga and Warrawee) and is divided into five local government wards (Comenarra, Gordon, Roseville, St Ives and Wahroonga).

We are seeking a highly experienced Director of Operations to lead and manage our Operations Department.
The ideal candidate will ensure efficient and effective service delivery and drivecontinuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities include providing strategic advice, managing departmental finances and assets, and leading the department's human resources with a focus on workplace safety.

Additionally, the successful candidate will oversee the department's customer service initiatives to maintain high standards of service and contribute to the overall direction andmanagement of the organisation as a member of the executive leadership team.

The ideal candidate will lead the Operations team, focusing on providing high-levelstrategic advice to the General Manager, Council, management, staff, customers,and stakeholders.

You will develop and implement the department's strategic,delivery, and operational plans while ensuring consistent monitoring and reporting on progress.

Candidates should possess extensive experience in asset and contract management, a proven track record in managing significant capital projects, and broad experience in overseeing engineering services across various disciplines.

Additionally, they should have senior-levelmanagement experience that demonstrates their ability to effectively lead and managemulti-disciplinary teams, exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, and the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.

Relevant tertiary qualifications in engineering or a related field are also required.

I think councils and public libraries are quite often seen as very old fashioned and stuck in their ways.

But that couldn't be further from the truth – it's such a dynamic place If you get a kick out of making a difference in someone's life, then council is a great place to work.
