The Project:


John Holland, CPB Contractors and Ghella will soon commence design and construction work for the Sydney Metro West - Eastern Tunnelling Package.


With a contract worth $1.63 billion, the Eastern Tunnelling Package includes construction of 3.5-kilometre tunnels under Sydney Harbour between The Bays and the Sydney CBD, and the excavation of Pyrmont and Hunter Street stations.

Starting at The Bays, tunnel boring machines will cross the harbour near the Anzac Bridge, before heading to the new Pyrmont station and then under Darling Harbour before reaching Hunter Street in the heart of the CBD.

This is the final piece in the puzzle to deliver the city-shaping Sydney Metro West project.


Once completed, Sydney Metro West will double rail capacity between greater Paramatta and the Sydney CBD, with travel times of around 20 minutes between the two centres.


The role:

We are currently recruiting for Place Manager to join the ETP Project Communications Team.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Delivery of the Communications and Stakeholder Engagement Management Plan
  • Developing and maintaining positive relationships with key stakeholders and the community
  • Developing communication material for upcoming work
  • Planning and delivery of best‐practice community and stakeholder initiatives
  • Writing for a variety of communication channels and audiences
  • Responding to stakeholder and community enquiries and concerns
  • Updating and maintaining the community database system
  • Identification of potential stakeholder and community issues, and development of effective management strategies including managing and minimising disruption to pedestrians, cyclists, public transport users, road users, adjoining businesses, and residents.

Skills and Experience:

  • An appropriate tertiary qualification (in communications, public relations, media or public policy discipline or related fields), industry or other relevant experience,
  • A minimum of five years' experience preferably working on infrastructure projects in a heavily urbanised area; and
  • A reputation for successfully managing high profile strategic stakeholder relations issues within complex and sensitive major project environments.
