The Opportunity
This role allows you to work across multiple services and potentially gain new skills and experiences.


Working in Youth Support Worker (Out of Home Care Support Independent Living) & Family Visit Support Work (Supervised Visits), you will support the Children & Young People in our Permanency Support Program.


The residential service supports children and young people who are in the OOHC system however living in a staffed residential property rather than with foster carers.


The family Visit Worker supports the parents and children to maintain and grow meaningful relationships in a safe and supervised environment.

Facilitate family goals and transport to family visits.


The role is involved in the planning, supervision and providing feedback, to ensure successful family time for children and young people, family members and carers.

The Essentials

  • Qualification in Community Service Welfare, Youth Work, Child and Family studies or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience in supervised contact, out of home care, children's services, youth work or a related field
  • Demonstrated understanding of child and adolescent development and the impact of trauma
  • Demonstrated ability to manage challenging behaviour and prevent and/or deescalate crises
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with and engage vulnerable children, young people and their families
  • Demonstrated experience mentoring children and young people
  • Strong interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evening, weekends and public holidays
  • A nonjudgemental and empathetic approach to engaging and working with children and young people and their families
  • Demonstrated commitment and ability to maintain confidentiality and accountability, including records of children and young people and their families, team and organisational discussions
  • The ability to effectively develop and maintain positive working relationships and networks with other Government and Non-Government agencies/services
  • Demonstrated ability to participate positively in team work, training and supervision processes
  • Knowledge and/or willingness to learn the relevant Government legislation applicable to the Permanency Program


The successful applicant will possess or willingness to obtain the following: NSW Working with Children Check, NDIS Worker Screening Check, first aid & CPR certificate and undertake a pre-employment functional medical.


The role's are paid under the Social, Community, Home Care & Disability Services Award 2010- between Level 2 and Level 3.
