The Role
Reporting to the AIS Service Delivery Manager, this will be an opportunity in the Aeronautical Information Services unit in Canberra.
As an Aeronautical Information Specialist - Charting you will have a deep understanding and demonstrated technical ability to provide cartographic support to the business by producing and maintaining fit-for-purpose aeronautical charts.
Or be able to demonstrate extensive knowledge and experience in the aviation industry and an aptitude to develop new skills in cartography and GIS operation.
You will play a key role in transitioning the Airservices chart production into a more data centric, future focussed operating model.
This will be an opportunity to showcase your knowledge while working in accordance with ICAO, CASR Part 175 and Airservices technical and safety standards.
The Person
To be considered for this position your will have experience working with Aeronautical Data and Information as well as skills and experience working with both CAD and GIS.
You will also possess strong numerical, written, and verbal communication skills, with a strong work ethic with a focus on attention to detail and accuracy.
- Tertiarylevel qualifications in Cartography, GIS or a related discipline (highly regarded)
- 5 years or more technical experience in a similar (recent and relevant) role
- Advanced experience with CAD (preferably MicroStation) and GIS for both print and digital product creation
- Experience with desktop publishing and editing software (e.g., Adobe InDesign and Illustrator)
- Experience with scripting (e.g., Python, ArcPy scripting, SQL)
- Proven charting/mapping skills with an excellent understanding of map projections
- Ability to work productively in a highpressure environment and manage time effectively to meet strict timeframes in an environment where workload peaks and troughs are commonplace
