The Honourable Justice Fox is seeking a legally qualified individual to be her Associate commencing April 2023, for a period of 18 or 24 months (to be negotiated with the successful applicant).

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience in the Criminal Division of the Supreme Court of Victoria.

An interest in criminal law, together with post-graduate experience in this area, would be advantageous.

Excellent written communication skills, personal qualities suitable for liaising with the profession and members of the public, as well as a strong academic record are essential.

An individual with up to two years post-graduate experience would be desirable.

Duties include:

  • Performing administrative tasks, including maintaining court records and preparing material for use by the judge in court;
  • Preparing research and briefing memoranda and assisting in the production of judgments; papers, and presentations, including proofreading and editing;
  • Speaking in court empanelling juries, taking verdicts, and arraigning the accused;
  • Jury keeping duties during trial;
  • Liaising with court staff, the public, the media, and the profession.
