About the role:
Engineers Australia Darwin delivers a range of CPD, Networking, STEM and Community outreach activities based out of our on-site auditorium facilities and various off-site locations across Darwin. The Member Engagement Assistant is primarily responsible for: (1) hosting events held in the auditorium including operation and maintenance of the audio visual equipment, facilities and assets, and (2) hosting, supporting and representing Engineers Australia at off-site activities including Division led CPD, Advocacy and Celebration events as well as Careers and STEM outreach programs.

In this role you will:

  • Host and support Member Groups in the Auditorium, managing catering, audio-visual setups, and event logistics.
  • Ensure the auditorium is tidy, open, and closed appropriately for events.
  • Operate and maintain AV equipment during events.
  • Assist with event setup, welcoming attendees, and housekeeping.
  • Record attendance for CPD and WH&S compliance.
  • Prepare event catering and maintain a hygienic kitchen.
  • Manage auditorium inventory and reorder supplies as needed.
  • Assist with guest registration and liaison at offsite events.
  • Participate in Career Fairs and STEM events as a representative.
  • Act as a House Leader at various STEM school events.
  • Respond efficiently to inquiries from event attendees, directing complex issues to Member Services.
  • Engage in community activities to promote the engineering profession.

  • You have an understanding of engineering and the engineering profession preferably gained through relevant study,
  • You are bright, positive and customer-oriented attitude
  • You maintain excellent verbal communication skills and have good written skills
  • You are comfortable working and understanding audio-visual equipment.
  • You do well remaining calm under pressure
  • You will do well in this role if you have a willingness to support other team members
  • You remain professional and diligent and use your initiative when completing tasks
  • You are reliable and respectful of fellow staff and stakeholders
  • You have a background in events and hospitality
