The opportunity


We have a new opportunity for a Traffic Performance Analyst, temporary full time role up to 30th June 2024 with possible extension within SCATS division.

This role will be based at Strawberry Hills but with very flexible work options available.


The role is part of the Research and Development Team to research and develop insights into all traffic performance aspects to support the ongoing development of Sydney Coordinated Adaptive Traffic Systems (SCATS) product capabilities, working to coordinate insights and input to Technology, Product and Architecture teams.


Your role will include:

  • Conduct and produce detailed reports on international best practice for traffic performance assessment, and perform gap analysis for SCATS.
  • Develop and enhance SCATS performance analysis reporting through data science, including contributing to analysis and insights that can be integrated into SCATS products.
  • Design and manage Proof of Concepts in collaboration with R&D team members and other stakeholders.
  • Actively support a SCATS research and development community of practice to enhance opportunities for innovation and to effectively integrate research and development into design, architecture and development and support the SCATS product vision and strategy, through training, workshops and presentations.
  • Identify and participate in academic and industry forums on intelligent transport systems.
  • Contribute to the implementation of a traffic performance testing and simulator framework which may be used to measure the effectiveness of any code and algorithms changes to SCATS products.
  • Communicate effectively and collaborate with Technology, Product and Business stakeholders within SCATS, TfNSW and Customers
  • Role model, promote and actively demonstrate the five ways of leading behaviours to deliver organisational outcomes for our customers, our people and communities for the Greater Good.

About you
To be successful you will have;

  • Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams, maximising performance at an individual level through a transformational period.
  • Exceptional analytical, modelling and research skills, complemented by excellent documentation and presentation skills.
  • Understanding of software systems development and complex technological platforms.
  • Data Science qualifications and/or experience would be highly regarded.
  • Hardware, sensor and/or IoT device experience would be highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated skills in conducting workshops, POC's and industry forums.
  • Demonstrated skill and experience identifying technology solutions in large and complex organisations.
  • Experience in traffic management or mission critical software systems is highly desirable.
  • Have 46 years industry experience.
  • Traffic theory qualifications would be highly regarded.
  • Growth Mindset having an "Open to Growth and Change" mindset

Salary and Benefits
The salary for this position is USS Grade 10 ($132, $144, per annum plus superannuation and leave loading.
