Melbourne, Victoria, Australia One Pass Full time

Are you interested in joining the dream team at Wesfarmers OneDigital?

Good call. We're an exciting new digital enterprise with big ideas, supporting some of Australia's most trusted and iconic brands focussed on making lives better for people all around Australia. We're well on our way towards bringing the best of digital and data possibilities together to create more personalised shopping experiences for customers across our retail brands.

We're continuing to bring the best talent and skills under one roof, working together and across disciplines to build amazing experiences for our customers. We continuously feed off each other's insights, talents and capabilities, because we are a business that thrives on open collaboration and a shared vision of positive, fun and rewarding experiences.

What you'll be doing

Wesfarmers OneDigital includes three rapidly evolving digital businesses – the OnePass membership program, the Catch marketplace and OneData, which powers the Wesfarmers Group's shared data asset.

Reporting to the Data Governance Manager, you will apply your practical experience and techniques in support of OneDigital's strategy and business goals. You will be a key contributor towards value focused, risk aware and effective data led solutions across the three digital businesses, ensuring all decisions and outcomes are aligned with business strategy and objectives for the retail ecosystem.

  • Implement best practice frameworks, policies, and standards to appropriately incorporate and use data from the Wesfarmers Group in a risk aware manner, including supporting the data sharing and usage principles by designing and embedding data risk controls to ensure data is protected and customer expectations are met.
  • Develop a data culture within OneDigital where the value of data is clear, the risk associated with handling and using data is managed and subject matter experts are enabled by data solutions and processes.
  • Develop, implement, and continually improve the practical data governance and data management capabilities, including expanding on the internal frameworks for quality, metadata, management, data sharing and use cases.
  • Provide trusted data governance and data management advice and guidance to Data Owners, while developing the Data Steward cohort.
  • Collaborate with key business and delivery stakeholders to ensure governance and management requirements and controls are in place, managing expectations set by leadership and the internal customers.
  • Contribute to privacy and security initiatives with business stakeholders to ensure data is protected.
  • Design and develop data guardrails to enable internal customers to maintain delivery momentum and assess exceptions if required.
  • Produce impact assessments and assurance outcomes on new and existing capabilities, to ensure control effectiveness, maturity aspirations and compliance with prevailing obligations (such as the Privacy Act and data management best practice).
  • Create, present, and communicate high impact data governance and management material (including thought leadership materials) to internal and external partners, including all levels of technology and business teams across OneDigital, the data governance forum and council, risk committee and other key forums.
  • Lead or support data-related incident management for material data issues across the data landscape and lifecycle, including contributing to root cause analysis of data issues and helping identify business process and technical improvements that contribute to higher quality data.

What you'll bring to the table

  • Demonstrable (from direct experience) understanding of data governance and data management industry frameworks (as examples but not limited to: DMBOK, APRA CPG235) and/or maturity models (DCAM, ADM).
  • 3+ years of data governance and/or data management experience.
  • Tertiary qualification.
  • A strategic mindset to identify material risk issues and value creation opportunities.
  • Demonstrable experience of effective collaboration between functional areas such as Cyber Security, Technology Operations, Privacy, Legal and Risk Management. Experience engaging with operational risk management, cyber risk management, technology governance or similar discipline.
  • Demonstrable experience in developing and implementing data management systems, protocols, and policies. Proficiency in data management tools and technologies, such as data cataloguing tools, data quality tools, and data governance platforms.
  • Ability to engage across the business, including senior leaders, business representatives and other data governance team members across the Wesfarmers Group and externally.
  • A strong team spirit, balanced by a healthy sense of autonomy coupled with the ability to navigate a fast paced, fluid and multi-stakeholder environment.
  • Ability to manage stakeholder and internal customer expectations and communicate in a clear and effective manner.
  • Project Management and/or delivery experience.
  • Strong affinity with, and interest in, new trends in data (including data governance and quality), AI, martech and advanced analytics.
  • A good understanding of data regulation and their impact in relation to digital businesses, retailers and personal information, as well as data sharing arrangements and associated contractual arrangements and controls is a plus.
