Adelaide Region SA, Australia Ensign Energy Services Inc. Full time

Job Summary:
This position is primarily a rig labourer's job.

However, it calls for an ability to learn and perform manual skills and develop a working knowledge of safe drilling operations.

Tasks include tubular handling, basic rigging and general rig maintenance under the supervision of the rig crew.

Specific Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Perform preparation and painting of substructure and equipment as directed by the crew
  • Assist Crew with maintenance of rig equipment and tubulars as directed
  • Maintain areas of responsibility in clean, tidy and safe condition
  • Assist in movement of equipment about the rig and between the rig and transport loads
  • Assist the drilling crew as directed in measurement, labelling and recording detail of casing and drill pipe
  • Assist drill crew as directed in rigging up, rigging down and running of blow out prevention (BOP) stack
  • Perform relieving duties on the drill floor as required
  • Assist Derrickhand as directed with mud mixing and conditioning
  • Assist in the orderly and safe storage of equipment and stores as directed by the Assistant Driller
  • Carry out fire team duties as assigned and as directed
  • Participate in all safety meetings, fire and BOP drills and safety training programmes
  • Assist in first aid and medivac procedures as directed
  • Have a thorough knowledge of rig emergency signals and procedures
  • Have a thorough knowledge of hand signals and safe working procedures for equipment handling
  • Perform assigned duties in a safe efficient manner in accordance with Company Policy and good rig husbandry
  • Have a working knowledge of basic knots, splices, wire line sling handling and general rigging practices
  • Report any unsafe condition or practice at once to a Superior
  • Any further reasonable duties as directed by a supervisor
  • Undertake all other work as requested by Management
  • From time to time there will be a requirement for you to work reasonable overtime in additional to the ordinary hours
  • Comply with all HSE policies and work procedures
  • Contribute to the development of and improvements in QA procedures
  • Actively work towards achieving/maintaining Training Matrix in accordance with organisational KPI's

Qualifications:

  • CPR
  • Senior First Aid
  • DCGI
  • 4x4 Operate Vehicles in the Field
  • Breathing Apparatus
  • Confined Space Training
  • Gas Testing and Monitoring
  • Working At Heights
  • Certificate II in Drilling
  • Oil/Gas

Education and Experience:

  • Previous manual labour position
  • Experience working away from home (preferred)
