Job Description
Under limited guidance, this position will assist in coordinating aspects of the Aboriginal Engagement, Planning and Lands Branch (AELPB), to help deliver on State Government, departmental and divisional priorities and strategies.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing leadership and guidance to effectively oversee the preparation, review and implementation of statutory management plans, prepared under the Conservation and Land Management Act 1984 (CALM Act).

  • Working with internal and external stakeholders to ensure coordination across multi-disciplinary projects, alignment with government and department strategies, and delivery of effective management plans.

  • Providing high-level advice and expertise to the Minister for Environment, Conservation and Parks Commission, Executive, and stakeholders, delivering senior level representation on various working groups and committees.

  • Developing and reviewing policies, guidelines, governance, and administrative frameworks that support the operation of the AELPB, including ongoing review to maintain best-practice and identify opportunities for improvement.

Selection Criteria
Applicants should address the following four (4) essential criteria. These should be addressed in no more than three (3) pages in total.

  • Proven ability to lead and manage a professional team to implement change and achieve operational objectives within designated timeframes.

  • High-level interpersonal and negotiation skills, with demonstrated ability to influence others and develop and maintain successful strategic partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated project management skills and experience, including the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary projects, prepare and monitor works programs, budgets and timeframes.

  • Well-developed conceptual, analytical and evaluation skills, with the ability to analyse, resolve and respond to complex and detailed issues, and effectively communicate these at a range of levels.

Note: The successful applicant will be required to possess or obtain a current (issue date not older than 6 months) and satisfactory National Police Check prior to commencement.
