Mater Hospital is looking for multiple
Orderlies to join the dedicated team at our South Brisbane Campus on a
casual basis.

Salary range:
$ $32.09 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900

What you'll be doing
These casual positions are for valued and integral member of the Ward Services Department.

You will be responsible for a wide range of portage and patient care services to clinical and non-clinical areas across 3 hospitals within South Brisbane based on Mater's customer focused philosophy.


Duties include but are not limited to the below:

  • Provide assistance with the transport and safe transfer of patients between departments, and to/from other local hospitals in beds or wheelchairs and by hospital ambulance in accordance with relevant policies and procedures.
  • Help nursing staff to provide a high quality of care whilst assisting with turning, lifting, mobilising, and hygiene needs of patients.
  • Ensure patient care is managed without harm to either patient or the handlers by utilising correct patient handling techniques and appropriate aids.
  • Handling soiled linen, general or biomedical waste using correct PPE
  • Couriering equipment between units, departments, and hospitals
  • Safe handling and restocking of medical gas cylinders.

About you

  • A strong commitment to working effectively as part of a team and autonomously with the capability to problem solve and troubleshoot.
  • Flexible, reliable and the ability to prioritise while working under pressure.
  • Fitness level to suit physically demanding role in fast paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to retain information.
  • Ability to comprehend and follow verbal and written instructions and procedures.
  • Certificate 3 in Health Support Services (Desirable)
